Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity Inc. was  the first Latino-Interest Fraternity on the West Coast. 15 young men were brought together with the purpose of addressing the shortcomings that Latino students faced in higher education in order to form an organization that would last beyond their time. With a vision of academic excellence, community service, and the maintenance of the Latino culture through the bonds of brotherhood they founded Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity Inc. on December 3rd, 1987 at California State University, Chico.

Mission Statement:

"The mission of Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity, Inc, a not-for-profit corporation built on the foundation of respect and brotherhood, is to establish and promote a nurturing environment at the university level and beyond, through academic excellence, community service, and the celebration of the diverse Latino Culture."

Philanthropy:

The organization has many individual chapter community service projects as well as established continued partnerships with various non-profit organizations throughout California. In the most recent years the organization at the national level has had a partnership with the CA Academic Decathalon.
